Nourish is happy to introduce our new Peterborough Culinary Collaborative! With the generous support of the United Way of Peterborough and District’s Innovation Fund, we will pilot a new collaborative to train 14 women so that they can access meaningful and stable employment, and become food secure.

Our experience has taught us that women are often faced with the harsh reality of poverty after escaping abuse, which is why our food work extends beyond our shelter as we engage with women and families in the community.
Over 50 years ago, Frances Moore Lappé, a young American social worker, argued that there was more than enough food to feed everyone in the world. What needed to change was how food was distributed and the kind of foods eaten. 2021 was the 50th anniversary printing of her book, Diet for a Small Planet, which is every bit as relevant today as it was in 1971.
The spirit of giving is strong at this time of year. During the holiday season, it is common to exercise our generosity when we can. Many feel pulled to donate money, food, and time as the winter sets in, and the nights get longer.
