YWCA Peterborough Haliburton is an equity-seeking organization dedicated to ending gender-based violence in all its forms.
Our experience has taught us that women are often faced with the harsh reality of poverty after escaping abuse, which is why our food work extends beyond our shelter as we engage with women and families in the community.
Access to affordable, healthy food, community gardens and food-skills workshops not only enhances food security, but also serves to reduce social isolation and build healthy relationships.
By harnessing the power of food, the YWCA Nourish Food Programs bring people together to build a collective sense of belonging, while working toward the systemic changes required to end food insecurity and poverty.
We are proud to collaborate with a number of organizations including Peterborough Public Health and GreenUp to support the creation of a vibrant network of places dedicated to eating, cooking, growing, and advocating for good food throughout Peterborough City and County.
Help address food insecurity by supporting local YWCA Nourish Food Programs. Join us on Saturday February 26th at the Venue.
